STAPLEFORD PARK ANNOUNCES DEVELOPMENT OF NEW CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSE
FOR 21ST CENTURY The
first phase in the development of a new, multi-million pound, 18-hole championship
golf course has just begun at Stapleford Park, an Outpost of the exclusive Carnegie
Club at Skibo Castle and one of England's most beautiful stately homes and country
estates. It follows the unprecedented success of the 3-hole Golf Academy which
opened there last year. Over
the next twelve months Donald Steel, the world's No 1 links golf course architect,
will oversee the £5m development - his fifth for The Carnegie Club. It will
be set within 500 acres of Capability Brown parkland, affording outstanding views
of the surrounding Leicestershire countryside, yet it will embody many of the
features found on the great links courses of Scotland. The
former seat of Lord and Lady Gretton, Stapleford Park is only one hour from London
and has been widely acclaimed as one of the most luxurious and enjoyable destinations
outside the capital, where house guests and Members of The Carnegie Club alike
experience the very best in English country living. Already
voted top UK venue for leisure facilities in 1998 by readers of Conde Nast Traveller
magazine, its magnificent Grade II Victorian stables will be converted to accommodate
a new Club House and secondary spa whilst retaining many of the buildings original
features. Peter
de Savaray, The Carnegie Club's founder and Chairman, will be hosting a celebration
of the final phase of the course's construction on 11th September. Scheduled to
open in July 2000, in an unrivaled and quintessentially English setting, the course
will be one of the most sought-after by golfing enthusiasts around the globe. |
