Price Rise Predicted for Grass Seed Prices in 1999

European producers of amenity grass seed varieties are forecasting a massive price rise of up to 40 per cent for some grasses next spring.

The most likely variety to be affected is perennial ryegrass which has met an increase in demand over the last few years. Poor harvests and bad climatic conditions coupled with a reluctance by some growers to plant amenity ryegrass has been responsible for the price rises.
