| HELLO,
I MUST BE GOING
Callaway Golf Company (ELY:NYSE)
announced the resignation of Frederick R. Port from its
board of directors last week, and as president of Callaway Golf's
international sales, effective December 31, 1999. Jim Chenevey,
Vice President of International Sales, will be the interim head
of international sales for Callaway Golf while a search is underway
for a permanent successor. "Jim Chenevey has been involved
(Internationally) in every step along the way. He is fully up to
speed," said Larry Dorman, Vice President Advertising, Press & Public
Relations for Callaway Golf .
Port joined Callaway in September of 1995, and had served as the head
of it's international sales division for the last three years. "While
this has been in discussion for some time, my decision to leave
Callaway Golf is the most difficult decision I have had to make,"
said Mr. Port. "I love this company and I am proud of the contributions
I made to Callaway Golf during the more than three years
I was in charge of international sales. Now, after spending between
20 to 30 weeks a year on the road, I am looking forward to
spending more time with my family -- especially with our new grandchild,
who is due to arrive at the end of the year."
Port was considered one of two candidates to succeed Ely Callaway
as President and CEO of the Company. With Chuck Yash
taking over the Callaway reigns, after Ely Callaway steps down,
it may appear that Port's actions were influenced by that announcement.
A replacement on the Callaway board of directors for
Port, is not considered "imminent." |
