American Golf in UK Acquisition Flurry

American Golf (UK) Ltd has signed long-term operating partnerships (lease agreements) with South Essex Golf and Country Club, near Brentwood in Essex, Weald Park Golf Club, also in Essex and Cottesmore Hotel Golf and Country Club in Sussex, near Crawley and Gatwick.

This brings AG-UK's total number of courses to 15.

South East Essex is a premium daily fee 27-hole course with a new clubhouse to open in April. Weald Park is a championship 18-hole private golf club with clubhouse and pro shop enhancement projects underway. Cottesmore is a 36-hole semi-private club with full pool and leisure facilities as well as a hotel complex. Further expansion for the hotel as well as clubhouse and golf course improvements will be taking place later this year.

Members and loyal players at all facilities will now enjoy reciprocal privileges not just at the 15 AG-UK facilities but also at 285 golf clubs, resorts and courses in the US.

Geary Leather, AG-UK managing director is anticipating three further acquisitions this month, plus five additional acquisitions for the balance of 1999.
