The New No1 Shoe on Tour

11th March 2002, Dubai - A small but important piece of history was made
last week in the sands of the Dubai desert. For the first time ever a new
name stamped its authority on the world of professional golf.

adidas became the number one shoe on the European Tour.

Worn by tournament winner Ernie Els, adidas shared the first place spot in
the footwear count when its Z Traxion Tour shoe was chosen by a total of 63
players at the 2002 Dubai Desert Classic, making the Z Traxion Tour the
clear number one shoe model.

The shoe count win is a significant foot forward for TaylorMade adidas Golf
who have experienced extraordinary growth over the last year - in European
Tour terms the number of adidas shoes in play has increased almost three
fold since the 2001 Dubai Desert Classic, when 23 players wore adidas
footwear.

Ernie's victory in Dubai is the third consecutive win for the TaylorMade
adidas staff player, and the eighth worldwide victory** for the company
since the 2002 season began ten weeks ago.
