New Red Ferrariis' at Arcot Hall
One of the most prestigious private members' clubs in the north-east
has signed up with Toro for all its course maintenance machinery,
after years of buying equipment ad hoc.
Arcot Hall Golf Club, near Newcastle upon Tyne, has agreed a five-year
lease deal with Toro, which has already seen the club take delivery
of three new mowers - a Reelmaster 3100-D Sidewinder, Greensmaster
3250-D ride-on and a Reelmaster 5500-D for fairways.
Secretary-manager Frank Elliott laughs as he says: "Our head
greenkeeper Ian Kyle and his team are delighted with the new kit.
He calls them his Red Ferraris!"
The 18-hole parkland course lies in a tree-lined oasis through which
deer, red squirrel and other protected wildlife roam freely.
Frank Elliott explains the club's decision: "Some of our machines
were coming to the end of their life, so we decided to update the
whole fleet. Toro put together an impressive presentation and offered
us the most attractive deal. We've got the machines we want with
an assured budget, plus a maintenance contract with dealer Shorts
of Whitburn, so we are guaranteed good service."
The Sidewinder has always been on the club's wish list, as Frank
outlines: "Ian specifically wanted the Sidewinder because it's
in a class of its own and perfect for cutting around bunkers. Also,
the Toro fairway machine was the best for design and build quality."
Toro commercial turf maintenance products are distributed throughout
the mainland UK by Lely UK, and in all of Ireland by Lely Ireland.
