£2.5m Golf Development Brings 65 New Jobs

A £2.5m Golf Centre and Academy near Glasgow which will create 65 new jobs opened on Friday June 15.

The 22 acre World of Golf is now the largest golf centre of its kind in Great Britain and features a 72 bay floodlit driving range considered to be one of the finest in Europe.

A major highlight of the new development is its superb short game practice area with putting green built to USGA standards.

JJB Golf will be on site with a massive retail unit which will be one of the largest outlets of its kind in Scotland. A prominent feature of the outlet is the Nike/Tiger Woods concept store, covering 1,200 sq ft stocking the complete range of equipment and clothing used by Tiger. A computerised club fitting centre for all leading brands will be available and Brian Adamson a fully qualified PGA professional and his team will provide expert advice.

In addition World of Golf will bring much needed conference and hospitality facilities to the area including state of the art conference rooms and a superb restaurant and bar. Special corporate golf days are also organised by an experienced team of professionals tailored for half or full day packages for a special day out – regardless of the weather.

However, its on the golfing front that World of Golf brings a new experience to golfers of every ability. The 72 practice bays laid out in two tiers offers a combination of open air and fully carpeted to the finest quality turf mats. Heated bays to automatic tee up dispensers add to the experience.

World of Golf also recognises that golfers have all levels of ability from the absolute beginner to the scratch player. This is catered for in the World of Golf Academy where a dedicated team of professionals led by Head Teaching Professional, Gary McFarlane offers either individual or group sessions. Each of the professionals has been at the world renowned Jack Nicklaus School of Golf. A swing analysis V1 machine will give the golfer a unique insight into their game.
