. Testing the TaylorMade Retro Woods
13º Spoon, 16º & 19º RAYLOR, with HM 40 Tour Gold Firm Flex Graphite Shafts

Dr Roger Taylor - 12 Handicap Royal St George's Golf Club - When I first saw the clubs I thought the heads looked verysmall and I felt the clubs would be difficult to play with. However I was pleasantly surprised how easy they were to hit,
particularly the 16º and 19º raylor woods
The tracks on the sole plate really helped to get the club into the back of the ball in the first cut of rough at Sandwich.

Henry Avery - 16 Handicap member of Calcot Park - Like my brother-in-law Dr Taylor I did not like the look of the clubs when i first picked them up. However they played well enough and I found them quite easy to use.

Alan Paddy - 18 handicap Royal St George's Golf Club- I fell in love with the 19º Raylor from the moment I first picked the club up. They reminded me of the clubs I first used many years ago - they were easy to use and I am first in line to purchase the clubs when our professional stocks them

Johnny Sangster - 8 handicap Royal St George's Golf Club.- The clubs looked old fashioned and I wasn't sure I liked the colour of the shafts. The heads felt quite heavy but when I swung the clubs they were well balanced and easy to use. I found the Raylor woods very effective in the rough and particularly the semi. They were strong and I got excellent length with them.

GolfToday View - Having tried the clubs ourselves both on links and inland courses we endorse the views above. Our first impression was that the clubs looked "old fashioned" but they really worked and we all felt they hit the ball further than our regular clubs.

Perhaps it only goes to show there is nothing new in golf. However the modern technology that has gone into their design makes them both easy to use and very strong. We all felt that we got between 10 to 20 yards further carry from the rough than our existing weapons.

The rails on the sole plates helped to keep the head on target through the ball.

The only real negative was the gold shafts - no-one really liked them and felt they gave the clubs an "old fashioned" look

Overall our testing showed that, despite a certain ambivalence at first sight, the clubs gave a very good performance when used by players with as wide a range of handicaps as 6 to 20.
