GOLF NAMES INDUSTRY VETERAN JOHN STEINBACH DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC RELATIONS
Nearly two decades after helping to bring TaylorMade Golf to Southern California,
John Steinbach will return to Carlsbad as TaylorMade-adidas Golf's director of
public relations. Along with founder Gary Adams, Steinbach was one of
the company's original leaders. Last serving as vice president of advertising
and public relations for TaylorMade, he will now direct the overall PR strategy
for both the TaylorMade and adidas Golf brands. Steinbach will report
directly to Robert Erb, vice president of global marketing. Zack Smith, public
relations manager, will continue his role as communications point person for
the company. "This move was simply to elevate the importance of public
relations within the company," said president Mark King. "While PR was once
a specialty in the marketing mix, it now has a directorship - giving it an
even stronger voice to continue the story behind our recent success.
"With John, we have someone who not only knows the industry inside and out -
but who truly represents our brand values of being competitive, innovative
and authentic," King continued. Steinbach started with TaylorMade in
1982 as a regional sales manager, then headed up the company's sales and marketing
in 1985 as director. He then focused his expertise by becoming the director
of marketing before leading TaylorMade's advertising and public relations
efforts as vice president.
