keeps to Spring in 2003 FAIRWAY
host Messe München GmbH has reached a joint decision with the trade advisory board
and will not after all schedule next year’s Golf Course Congress and Trade Fair
simultaneously with GOLF EUROPE, the International Trade Fair for the golf retail
sector, which this year has moved to Munich’s new exhibition centre.
“Simultaneous scheduling with
GOLF EUROPE would have meant postponing FAIRWAY until Autumn 2003,” said Jürgen
Lohrberg, managing director of consumer fairs at Messe München GmbH. “Almost all
advisory board members favoured scheduling FAIRWAY in the Spring, which determined
our decision to hold the Golf Course Congress and its Trade Fair as an independent
event in the M.O.C.” FAIRWAY
2003 will be held Thursday and Friday, 27th - 28th of February 2003, in halls
2 and 3 of the M.O.C. in Munich-Freimann. The
dates for 2004 have been confirmed as 26th - 27th February 2004 which indicates
the organiser’s commitment to continuity. Gerhard
Mathes, who had participated in the extracurricular meeting of the advisory board
as the representative for the Toro/Roth Motor Equipment Ltd. Company, expressed
his satisfaction with the decision. “The date is a top priority for us – and an
increase in visitors by almost 10% at FAIRWAY 2002 proves that we are on the right
track.” Heinz
Fehring, a member of the board of the Professional Golfers’ Association of Europe,
also commented approvingly on the panel’s decision. “In 2002, FAIRWAY experienced
a decisive new revival,” he said. “Therefore, it’s important and appropriate to
continue holding the Fair as it was originally planned.”
Closer cooperation has been agreed with the German Greenkeepers Association (GVD)
as well as several other European greenkeeper associations.
Plans have been made for joint conferences as well as setting up travel and hotel
packages for members of the GVD. “In future, we will cooperate even more closely
in selecting seminars related to specific topics and inviting corresponding speakers,
among other things,” said Hubert Kleiner, GVD president.
In addition the organisers wish to increase cooperation with the Golf Management
Association of Germany (GMVD) as well as the European Institute of Golf Course
