Angel Cabrera Sets New European Tour Driving Distance Record

Argentina's Angel Cabrera has become the first European Tour member to end a season with a driving distance average of over 300 yards.

Cabrera, 32, from Cordoba, who uses one of PING's new TiSI Tec drivers, headed the European Tour's 2001 Reuters Performance Data Driving Distance category with an average of 303.5 yards, a new Tour record.

The Argentinian began the 2001 season in wonderful style when he collected his first European Tour title at the Open de Argentina at the Jockey Club in Buenos Aires. He also produced that sort of form while finishing second at both the Benson & Hedges International at The Belfry and the Volvo PGA Championship over the famous West course at Wentworth.

Cabrera started his 2001 campaign using a Ping TiSI driver but switched to the new TiSI Tec model when it became available this summer. The TiSI Tec driver Cabrera uses was custom-fit and custom-built for him at the PING Wrx department and features a Graffaloy Tour X-Stiff shaft at 45 inches, effective trajectory of 7 degrees, a RSS hosel and Victory velvet cord 58 grip with two extra wraps.
