BTME To Be Extended

The British & International Golf Greenkeepers' Association turf management exhibition (BTME) in Harrogate has been extended to three full days and will take place from January 22-24 next year. Instead of running from Wednesday to Friday lunchtime as has traditionally been the case, next year's show, the 14th, will begin on Tuesday (January 22) and close at 5pm on Thursday (January 24) with exhibitors not dismantling their stands until Friday morning.

This decision, which means that many exhibitors will incur the cost of staying an extra night in Harrogate, has not been well-received, even though BIGGA's executive director Neil Thomas has promised a review after the 2002 show.

"We believe this decision will benefit both visitors and trade alike. Visitors intending to come for a whole day will have an extra day to choose from while the trade should enjoy another day with similar attendance numbers to the traditionally busy first two days," said Thomas.

"The decision to extend the Show to three full days illustrates the confidence that the trade has in BTME and is another example of our on-going commitment to improving our flagship event of the year."
