T Secures Distribution Deal for UK and Ireland ‘Controversial’
nylon fibre-based golf tee Brush-T has signed an exclusive distribution agreement
for its product with ND Sports and Whole in One Golf. According to Brush-T’s UK
head of sales Jeff Hawkes the deal was finalized just hours before the Christmas
break last year. Nigel
Freemantle and Keith Friend of ND Sports and Whole in One Golf (respectively)
first became interested in the product while watching TV coverage of the Dunhill
Cup last October. Ernie Els’ tee shot on the 18th caused interest when
the camera showed him actually to be using one of the Brush-Ts. As Ernie walked
the several hundred yards to his ball, Sky Sports commentators Ewan Murray and
Bruce Critchley spoke of little else but the new odd-looking tee. The
distributors became ‘seriously interested’ in the Brush-T, however, after actually
getting their hands on the product at the Birmingham Golf 2000 Expo in November
2000. ND/Whole
in One has become one of the UK’s foremost golf wholesalers, due in part to successful
initiatives like The Golfers Club collection, which has become a benchmark
for golf equipment retailers and resellers across the country. "If the Brush-T
must be described as controversial that shouldn’t be the beginning and
end of it," says Jeff Hawkes. "People are passionate about golf and
so any innovation is bound to cause strong feedback, but any controversy will
fade as the product’s innate strengths become known. "As
a brand, we may be young but we’re not confused. The Brush-T is not a gimmick
or a prototype, it’s a golfing aid available right now. Most importantly, in South
Africa, where it’s a mature product now, more and more people are converting to
it all the time. We know it works." |
